  • What happens if I'm terrible at meditating?
Then mindfulness is perfect for you! Mindfulness is a unique form of meditation that is especially helpful for those of us who have a hard time meditating. Rather than clearing your mind of all thought, we simply focus our attention on a thought or sensation. In mindfulness we even expect our thoughts to wander! Part of learning to be mindful is to acknowledge that your mind will wander and accept it without judgment. Then you can refocus your attention back to the original subject. Our classes are what is known as "Guided Meditation" which means that the class leader will be giving you prompts throughout the entire session. All you have to do is follow them!
  • Do I need to bring anything or wear anything in particular?
We will be spending plenty of time in relaxed positions of your choosing. We will provide some pillows, yoga mats, chairs, and blankets. These are handed out on a first come first serve basis so feel free to bring your own pillows, cushions, blankets, yoga props, or extra padding to help you stay comfortable. Wear comfortable clothing that you can move in and lay down in (no skirts or dresses please). You may be more comfortable not wearing shoes.
  • What is an intro class and do I need to attend one?
Intro classes are open to all levels of experience, but are special because they have time cut out for the instructor to explain the basics of mindfulness. We highly encourage attending an intro class if you have never meditated or are unfamiliar with mindfulness.
  • What is an intermediate class and can I go if I am a beginner?
You can absolutely attend intermediate classes even if you are a beginner. All this means is that we will move fairly quickly into the guided meditation with the expectation that you have attended at least one intro class.
  • Do I need to go to all four sessions in a course?
Absolutely not! The courses exist to provide some variety in content and theme. You can repeat courses or take individual classes as you like. The classes are led live, they are not recordings so there will be some variation every time.
