Abdominal (Colon) Massage for Constipation

Constipation can have a major impact on the pelvic floor and pelvic health symptoms. Yet most of us don't even realize we're constipated!

It's one of the most overlooked aspects of pelvic health. If your pelvic PT hasn't looked at constipation as a driver of your symptoms you may be missing a major piece of the puzzle!

In this video below, check out how to do a self-massage (called a colon massage) to alleviate constipation and promote better pelvic health!

Colon Massage: A gentle abdominal massage to stimulate the bowels and alleviate constipation for better pelvic health

Who are We at PelvicSanity?

At PelvicSanity, it's our mission to support patients with pelvic pain and pelvic floor symptoms, regardless of where you live. We can help with:

Performing a Colon Massage to Alleviate Constipation for Pelvic Health

Using gentle circles and starting just above the right hip-bone, massage in gentle clockwise circles with both hands. Keep it gentle and then move up and follow the path of the colon.

You'll work up towards your ribcage, across your abdomen and down the left side of your abdomen to the left hip bone.

Go gently and do this rotation three times and follow it with a room temperature glass of water to facilitate the movement of waste through the bowels to alleviate constipation.
